Jetour T2 Facelift Launched Globally: India Launch Details Explained

Jetour T2 face-lifted edition has been introduced globally with its revamped exterior design, improved interior, and changed engine lineup. But it is expected that the Indian market will get the T2 with pre-face-lifted design via JSW Motors with another name.

Design Changes with Face-lift

Although the face-lifted model has kept the same box-shaped body design, it has been offered with an improved front appearance design with circular DRLs, a new grille with a light strip and a new bumper. The company logo ‘Jetour’ has been shifted from the grille area to the bonnet.

On the other side, on the rear side of the SUV, there have been some minor changes made, such as new rear bumper, new alloy wheels, and new spare wheel cover.

Additional Premium Cabin

The cabin has been further revamped with a cleaner looking dash and a new steering wheel. The existing 15.6-inch touch screen and 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster remains the same, but there is a more powerful processor inside the infotainment system in the form of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8255.

More expensive components include heated and ventilated front seats with massage, two wireless charging pads, 23-speaker audio system, 256 color ambient lighting and ADAS package.

Facelifted Petrol and Plug-In Hybrid Engines

There are new engines and powertrains for the T2 facelift based on the market. For the Chinese market, the petrol version now has a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine with a 8-speed automatic transmission.

For the plug-in hybrid model, the 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine is retained, but the electric motor and hybrid system have been upgraded. There is a choice between smaller and larger batteries that offer up to 173km WLTP range.

What About India?

That’s where the story becomes exciting. JSW Motors plans to debut the pre-facelifted Jetour T2 in India as the first car under the JSW Motors-Chery tie-up. The India-bound SUV is rumored to sport a JSW badge and come equipped with the plug-in hybrid engine.

The T2 has been extensively tested in India, although JSW had previously planned to introduce the SUV by 2026. But recent reports hint at a possible delay for the Indian debut of the JSW SUV.

Our Take

The Jetour T2 facelift gets some much-needed upgrades in terms of styling and tech to Jetour’s rugged SUV, although Indians might not see it immediately.

As for India, the emphasis continues to be on the pre-facelift T2-based JSW SUV. If the facelift does reach India one day, it could make the SUV even more attractive.
