The Range Rover Sport Electric is unveiled as the first ever fully-electric vehicle from the Range Rover Sport line-up. The company has now also started bookings in India for the SUV which is set to debut in March 2027. It has a 118.5kWh battery pack, twin motors, and a range of up to 609km.
550hp And 850Nm
The electrified SUV features a twin-motor all-wheel-drive system that produces 550hp and 850Nm. It can accelerate from 0-100kph in just 4.5 seconds, which is the same acceleration offered by the V8-powered Range Rover Sport.
The 118.5kWh battery is compatible with an 800V electrical system and charges at 350kW with DC fast charging. JLR says it takes just 22 minutes for a 10-80% charge, while even 10 minutes of charging time is capable of giving you 220km of range under ideal conditions.
Design of the Range Rover Sport Familiar
The Sport Electric retains the same general appearance of the combustion engine-powered version; however, some EV-specific aero updates have been made, including a black grille, which is aerodynamically designed, and new alloys with aerodynamic inserts and details unique to electric vehicles.
The SUV will be available in four different versions – Dynamic SE, Dynamic HSE, Autobiography and First Edition.
Advanced Interior and Off-Road Performance
As for the interior of the vehicle, it is familiar in terms of design; the infotainment touchscreen and digital instrument display are 13.1 and 13.7 inches respectively. In addition, the five-seater SUV includes four-zone climate control, wireless phone charging as well as power, heating and ventilation of front and rear seats.
Electric Range Rover retains its off-road capabilities with its air suspension, twin-valve dampers, active roll control and all-wheel steering, which allow wading through water at up to 900 mm depth and tackling gradients of up to 45 degrees.
Range Rover Sport Electric Expected India Price
The Range Rover Sport Electric will be launched in India in March 2027 and is set to be available as a complete import. The expected price of the vehicle is estimated to be ₹2.40-2.50 crore ex-showroom.
What We Think
The Range Rover Sport Electric has retained the same styling and off-roading credentials of the Sport variant but replaced its internal combustion engine with an electric motor that generates 550 hp.
With its claimed 609 km range, 850 Nm of torque, 800 V charging capability, and its off-road credentials, this is not just another electric variant of the already-existing SUV. The proof will be in the pudding when it hits Indian shores in 2027.
