Mahindra Thar Og Full Price List: New Engines, More Features And 4wd Updates

Mahindra Thar Og Full Price List: New Engines, More Features And 4wd Updates

The Indian car manufacturer Mahindra has unveiled the Thar OG, which is the newest addition to its three-door SUV range, the price of which starts from ₹10.32 lakh and goes up to ₹18.99 lakh. The model has been upgraded with engines and other changes.

Variants and Prices of the Thar OG

The Thar OG has three variants such as AXT, LXT and ZXT. The basic variant AXT comes with 1.5-litre diesel engine and manual transmission in rear wheel drive at ₹10.32 lakh.

The most expensive variant of this vehicle is ZXT that comes with 2.2-litre diesel 4WD and automatic transmission which costs ₹18.99 lakh.

According to Mahindra, these prices will be applicable until deliveries made before November 30, 2026.

Additional Horsepower from the Petrol and Diesel Engines

Thar OG remains true to its heritage with three engine configurations, but the more powerful engines have additional horsepower compared to their previous iterations. The 2.0 litre turbo-petrol engine produces power of 162hp and torque of 330Nm, whereas the 2.2 litre diesel engine produces 152hp and 330Nm of torque.

The 1.5 litre diesel engine is still there but the power output remains the same at 119hp and 300Nm of torque. The 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines come with a six-speed manual and automatic gearbox

Thar Gets A New Platform And Suspension

The most significant difference is hidden below the recognizable chassis. Thar OG switches to Mahindra’s M_Glyde 4G platform that also serves as the basis for the Thar Roxx.

The car receives PENTALINK rear suspension with Watts Link and Frequency Dependent Damping technology; it will be also easier to manoeuvre the vehicle at lower speeds due to the electric power steering. Electronic locking differential and special Mud, Sand and Snow driving modes boost its off-road abilities.

New Design And Additional Equipments

The new Thar is equipped with an updated grille, LED headlights that include C-shaped Daytime Running Lights, LED fog lights that are now equipped with cornering lights, and new front and rear bumpers. The additional 19 inch alloy wheels along with the new paint schemes help in making it look like a completely new car.

The interior features include new Truffle Brown leatherette seat covering, digital instrument panel, air-cooled seats, automatic climate control, new infotainment system, and even wireless phone connectivity.

Our Verdict

Thar OG is an upgrade beyond just a cosmetic makeover. Although Mahindra has managed to maintain the SUV’s characteristic three-door identity, the upgrades include better handling, electronic power steering, better equipped car, and powerful engines.

Starting price at ₹10.32 lakh makes the Thar more affordable, while the price of ₹18.99 lakh ZXT diesel 4WD automatic model is the most expensive version of the upgraded Thar. The real test for the enthusiasts would be whether the upgrades make the car easier to handle without compromising on the toughness that has always been a hallmark of the Thar.
