MG Comet EV measures 2,974 mm in length and has a 4.2‑metre turning radius, which makes MG Comet EV especially good for congested cities where parking and manoeuvrability matter more, than large space.
MG Comet EV’s four‑seat layout and compact size limit its practicality compared with the Tiago EV. For someone who travels mainly inside a city, MG Comet EV’s small footprint can be a major advantage.
Tata Punch EV: The Practical Option
I feel that Tata Punch EV is a perfect choice for those who desire an electric SUV which is quite practical. The Tata Punch EV 2026 comes with an initial price tag of ₹9.69 lakh for the Smart model with 30kWh.
I see that the Tata Punch EV with a 40kWh battery is where the car really stands out. It can travel 468km on a charge according to ARAI certification and it is said to cover about 355km in real‑world use.
What I like about the Tata Punch EV is that it also has a seating capacity for five passengers, a cargo volume of 366 liters, fast charging and a 360 degree camera. With all these qualities, the Tata Punch EV becomes a very versatile option for those looking for an EV that can handle city driving and occasional trips.
Vayve Eva: A Unique Entry
Also, there is a very unique electric car that is waiting to enter this category. Vayve Eva is an electric car that fits two adults and one child. The cheapest Vayve Eva starts at ₹3.99 lakh while the expensive Vayve Eva, called Vega costs ₹5.99 lakh. The real range of the Vayve Eva can be from 125 km, to 250 km depending on the Vayve Eva variant you choose.
But here is the catch, the Vayve Eva is not available yet for delivery to its customers. Delivery of the same is scheduled for 2027, and bookings for now are closed.
Thus, it cannot be considered as an existing electric car option.

Whereas the Punch EV is the better buy for someone looking for an SUV-styled product, more spaciousness and higher potential in terms of the range of the car. It must be noted here that the ₹9.69 lakh price point of the Punch EV holds true for only the entry level 30kWh variant.

India’s sub-₹10 lakh EV market may be small but is getting very interesting. From the Tiago EV providing consumers with a traditional hatchback seating up to five, to the Comet EV for the urban dwellers because of its compact size and Punch EV, providing the utility of an SUV at affordable prices.
If the budget strictly comes under ₹10 lakh then the Tiago EV is the most sensible buy because both its variants are available within the price range. But if you want more space along with SUV practicality then you should go for the Punch EV; however, the larger battery versions of the car will cost you a little extra money. On the other hand, the Comet EV is worth considering for those who drive a lot in the city.
The next big development might come from mass-market EVs. Maruti Suzuki is reported to be working on an electric vehicle below the ₹10 lakh mark.
