Upcoming Cars With Panoramic Sunroof In India: What To Expect

Panoramic sunroofs have grown to be quite common in India, especially in SUVs and cars in premium segments. There are also several models coming up and some existing ones which are expected to come with large glass roofs as automakers continue to enhance their cabin offerings.

More Cars Expected to Feature Panoramic Sunroofs

Panoramic sunroof is no longer a luxury-only feature anymore. It has now made its way into the higher variants of SUVs as buyers look for features like large infotainment systems, connectivity, ventilated seats and ADAS, among others, together with a panoramic roof.

EVs Are Catching The Wave

The use of panoramic roofs in the interior design of electric SUVs is also becoming common. Future EVs may incorporate panoramic roofs along with minimalist dashboards, large display screens, connected car systems, and quick charging systems.

This is especially true given the rising number of electric SUVs in India.

What Buyers Should Be Aware Of?

Panoramic roofs may sound fancy, but there are certain aspects that buyers should be aware of. Large glass panes can lead to the entry of more heat into the cabin, which means that a good sun shade and climate control system would be necessary.

The other points to look out for are the rear headroom space, warranty and the maintenance costs of the moving parts.

Panoramic Sunroof vs Standard Sunroof

While a normal sunroof has a relatively small-sized glass piece, the panoramic sunroof is larger and takes up more space on the roof.

Nevertheless, just because a vehicle has a panoramic sunroof doesn’t necessarily mean that the car is better. The performance of the engine/motor, safety features, comfort, mileage or economy, and ownership costs are equally important.

Our Verdict

The panoramic sunroof is becoming increasingly popular in premium vehicles but isn’t exclusive only to high-priced models. More future SUVs and EVs will be equipped with it, especially on higher models.

But for customers, it shouldn’t be the only factor influencing their choice.
