The Volkswagen brand will launch the ID Tiguan, its electric SUV, in October. The car will be positioned next to the gasoline and hybrid versions of the Tiguan and will go on sale internationally in 2027.
New Design of Electric SUV
Compared to the combustion engine-based Tiguan, the new electric SUV has an entirely new design on the outside. Specifically, the vehicle has slimmer lights, a new rear light cluster design, and wheels of up to 21 inches in size.
Additionally, the electric SUV will be 44mm longer than the Volkswagen ID 4, which should mean that there will be extra space inside.
Two Battery Variants Likely to Be Available
The ID Tiguan will utilize the Volkswagen MEB+ platform and will feature the same 58kWh and 77kWh battery packs available with the ID 4.
The former could be available on the base trim, while the latter is likely to be offered on Pro and dual motor Pro 4Motion trims. Range and power outputs have yet to be finalized.
As a point of reference, the ID 4 with a 58kWh battery pack has a range of 364km based on WLTP, while 77kWh models have a range of 512km and 572km depending on the variant.
Increased Interior Space
According to Volkswagen, the ID Tiguan will have a more spacious interior, though the entire interior design has yet to be disclosed by the automaker.
It is also rumored that Volkswagen will incorporate some physical controls such as steering wheel buttons and dedicated dashboard controls.
Is It Coming To India?
Volkswagen has not yet made any announcements about bringing the ID Tiguan to India. Currently, their upcoming electric SUV for India is the ID 4, which is expected to be launched sometime in 2026.
Since the international launch of ID Tiguan is scheduled for early 2027, any announcement regarding the ID Tiguan for India will come separately.

ID Tiguan becomes a significant vehicle for Volkswagen since it is the first electric SUV to bear the well-known name of Tiguan and has the larger size and battery capacity compared to the previous ID 4.
However, at the moment, the only information available is the appearance and technical details of ID Tiguan to be revealed in October.
